Blessed to be called Mother and Wife

       July 15th 2013

I am thankful and blessed….I thank the LORD for my family……I had a lovely conversation with one of my 3 sons yesterday and it blessed my heart to hear him say….. “Mom, I am looking for a woman like you.”  Proverbs 31: 28 “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and praises her.”

I have received both such blessings from my children and my loving husband Tom.  On the day of my ordination, my husband spoke at length about my character and being a mother and wife.  “I want you to know that I am married to a virtuous woman,” he said.  When I heard this, I could only but cry with joy and thanksgiving.  I concluded that it did not matter what others thought of me outside my home……My testimony begins at home from those who know me well…..I felt I had run a good race and will continue to do so.  I also said…  “Thank you Father…this is for You….it is all because of You.  You graced me, taught me and empowered me to be an example and blessing to my family.”

What examples do we set for our family?  It is great to be called a “Mighty woman of God” by our sisters and brothers in the LORD; but do we truly have a testimony within our homes and our personal lives?

I learned from my mother as I watched her and as she taught me and my desire is to pass that on to my children, especially my daughter what a “woman of God” truly represents and mean.

To have head my son say this to me meant a lot.  When my oldest son met his wife, he said….”mom you will love her, she is just like you.”  My sisters, our children and our husbands are watching us, they are learning from us.  We set an example and we establish a foundation for many generations, whether it is good or bad…..selfish or nurturing and caring.  I knew a nurturing and caring Mother……..Vielyn Keturah Jackson, and that legacy I will pass on to my children and my grand and great………great…..great grandchildren.  It blesses me to know that I have shown them what a “godly woman” looks like and how to look for one.  One who will builds up and not tears down.  One whose presence is the sweet smelling fragrance of the Lord and sweet like honey; not stench nor toxic.  Remember, this does not come from mere words, but it radiates…..we release a fragrance that draws others to us or repels them.

Nurturing and caring is not always easy as a lot of patience, sacrifice, denying one’s self and sometimes pain accompanies this, but there is much fruit to be born.  The LORD tells us to “………….deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Him”……Matthew 16:24.  We sometime carry crosses as we occupy this role of mother and wife, but our crosses becomes our LORD’s cross as we accept the final verdict…  “It is finished.”  The enemy will try to inflict nails which cause a lot of pain and denying oneself; but our response will be…  “It is finished……..the victory is mine”

I encourage you today my “sisters,” do not despair, do not lose hope, do not give up the fight. I encourage you to hold on to Father’s hand, let us seek Him for His direction and guidance to be the girl friends, wives, mothers, grandmothers, sisters He is calling us to be.  We will be His best, bearing precious fruits and a lasting legacy for those around us.

I love you all….let us pray for one another and our children and children’s children for many generations.......This is a "Mother's Pearl."

“God’s  Precious Pearls.”
